Daviess Community Hospital is a not-for-profit and county-owned 74 bed hospital in Washington, Indiana that includes acute care, OB, intensive care, inpatient rehabilitation facility and behavioral health. The facility also owns and operates medical clinics in Loogootee, Odon, and Washington, including a walk-in Quick Care Clinic.

We work cooperatively with physicians, other health care providers, local businesses and industries, and other community organizations to address community needs and to provide a continuum of care.

Description
• The VP of Nursing:
- Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, monitoring and evaluating safe high quality patient care across the continuum.
- Participates as a full member of the senior leadership team, including strategic planning and execution, change management, and organizational decision-making. Develops and implements nursing's mission, vision, values and strategic, short and long term goals and objectives, standards of care and operating plans for patient care services.
- Develops and implements ongoing measures/evaluation methods related to budget and productivity targets.
- Develops and implements plans, including education and required competencies that ensure staffing for safe high quality patient care.
- Ensures compliance with all health care standards and requirements established by various licensing, regulatory and accreditation bodies.
- Assists in planning new services that generate additional sources of profitable revenue
- Creates an environment that will encourage recruiting and retention of clinical employees
- Establishes standards for nursing practice and maintains authority, accountability and responsibility for nursing services
- Analyzes areas in planning, promoting and conducting organization-wide performance improvement activities
- Represents the nursing services at all meetings including medical staff and hospital board of director meetings; participates with leaders in designing and providing patient care and services
• As a member of the Hospital's senior management team, the VP of Nursing will participate in functional decision-making processes necessary to the successful attainment of the hospital's mission in addition to maintaining an awareness of changes in healthcare clinical matters that could have an impact on the success of the hospital.
• The VP of Nursing will oversee multiple departments within the hospital.
• This position reports directly to the hospital Chief Executive Officer.

Qualifications

Education:
• Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Nursing from an accredited institution
• Master's degree in healthcare management or related field, or the knowledge and skills associated with an advanced degree or a written plan to obtain these qualifications

Certifications/Licenses:

• Must be a registered nurse (RN) with a current licensure in Indiana

Experience/Skills:
• Must possess detailed knowledge of hospital nursing operations and a demonstrated ability to model the use of evidence-based leadership/practice, and project management skills
• 5+ years of demonstrated successful leadership in an acute-care hospital environment
• Experience with LEAN process preferred
• Experience with Studer principles preferred
• Must be proficient with electronic medical record entry and review skills, as well as, excellent written and verbal communications
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with hospital staff, physicians, patients, and patient's families
